Allyl caproate (allyl hexanoate) is the pineapple ester, the juicy, sweet fruit note behind most pineapple and tropical accords. It is strong and bright, so a small amount goes a long way.
What it smells like
Ripe pineapple with a sweet, fruity-ester brightness and a faint fatty-green edge.
How perfumers use it
Use it to build pineapple, tropical and fruity-cocktail accords, or add a juicy top to florals and fruity chypres. It combines well with other fruity esters and with Aldehyde C-18 for a piña-colada effect. Work from a dilution and keep it in the top of the formula.
Blends well with: Aldehyde C-18, Hedione, Ethyl Maltol, Citrus oils, Musks.

Covered by IFRA's specification for allyl esters: free allyl alcohol in the material must stay below 0.1%. There is no separate concentration cap on the ester itself.
