Ethylene brassylate is a sweet, powdery macrocyclic musk and one of the most widely used musks in perfumery. It is the same molecule that Takasago sells as Musk T. It's a good first musk to keep on the shelf because it is smooth, easy to dose and fixes a formula without shouting.
What it smells like
Soft and sweet with a powdery, slightly floral musk and a faint fruity edge. It is quiet up close but lasts a long time and gives a clean skin-like glow in the dry-down.
How perfumers use it
Use it as a base note and fixative in almost anything: white florals, clean laundry accords, ambers and attar-style oils. It layers well with other musks. Galaxolide adds clean volume and Habanolide adds a metallic brightness, so a blend of two or three musks usually smells richer than one.

Equivalent to Musk T
