Gucci-Inspired Perfume Oils: Flora, Bloom, Oud and Rush in India (2026)

A few months ago I stood at a fragrance counter in a Kolkata mall watching a woman spray Gucci Flora on a card, hold it to her nose, and put it straight back down. Not because she disliked it. She told the SA plainly: "It's lovely, but I'm not spending eleven thousand rupees on something that'll be gone by lunch."

That sentence is basically why our Gucci-style oils exist. The house has a very particular signature — bright, powdery, slightly retro florals sitting on soft woods — and it's a signature that translates beautifully into oil. It also happens to be a signature that struggles in Indian heat when it's diluted in alcohol at 8% concentration.

Why the Gucci style works better as a perfume oil in India

Alcohol-based eau de parfums are built to bloom outward. You spray, the alcohol flashes off, and the top notes throw a big cloud for twenty minutes. In Delhi in May, or on a Mumbai local at 6pm, that cloud is gone before you've reached the office.

Oils behave differently. There's no alcohol carrying the scent away from your skin, so the molecules sit in the warmth and release slowly. You lose some of the dramatic opening — I won't pretend otherwise — but you gain six to eight extra hours of wear. For the powdery-floral Gucci profile, which lives in its heart and base anyway, that's a fair trade. The part of Flora most people actually love is the part that lasts longest in oil.

Gucci Flora inspired perfume oil: the powdery floral everyone recognises

This is our best seller of the group and it isn't close. Our Flora-inspired oil opens on citrus and pear, settles into rose and osmanthus, and dries down powdery with a patchouli edge that keeps it from turning sweet.

Wear note from about two weeks of testing on myself and three people in the workshop: it's a daytime scent. It's genuinely lovely at a mehendi or a daytime wedding function, and slightly out of place at a late dinner. It also performs unusually well in air conditioning, where a lot of florals go flat.

Sample is ₹130 for 10g. That is a real amount of oil — enough for six to eight weeks of daily wear if you're using it neat on pulse points.

Gucci Bloom inspired perfume oil: tuberose, and a warning

Bloom is the white-flower monster of the set — tuberose and jasmine with almost no citrus to soften the opening. It is also our cheapest Gucci-style oil at ₹100 for the 10g sample, which makes it the easiest one to try.

Here's the warning I give everyone: tuberose in oil form is roughly twice as loud as tuberose in spray form. If you're used to applying four sprays of an EDP, apply one dab of this and stop. I've watched people ruin their own experience by treating oil like alcohol. One touch at the wrist, one behind the ear, done. Applied that way it's gorgeous and it'll still be there at midnight.

If you find tuberose too much full stop, the Gorgeous Gardenia variation in the same family is softer and creamier — worth asking us about, though sample stock on that one moves in and out.

Gucci Oud inspired perfume oil: the unisex one that surprises people

Gucci Oud is the odd one out and the one I personally reach for. Oud, raspberry, saffron, incense, leather. It reads as Middle Eastern rather than Italian, and it's the only oil in this group I'd call a proper cold-weather, evening, wedding-season scent.

It's also our priciest Gucci-style oil — ₹160 for the 10g sample — because the materials underneath it genuinely cost more. If you already like the Arabian style oils we make, this sits comfortably next to them but with a cleaner, more polished finish.

Gucci Rush inspired perfume oil: the 1999 cult object

Rush is a strange, wonderful thing — vanilla, coriander, freesia, and a peculiar plasticky-peach quality that people either adore or find bizarre. It was discontinued and reformulated enough times that the original is now a collector's item selling for absurd money.

Our version leans toward the older, creamier character. At ₹120 for a sample it's the cheapest way I know to find out whether you're a Rush person. Roughly half the people I've handed it to have loved it immediately and the other half have handed it straight back. There's no middle ground with this one.

Which one should you actually start with?

If you want something safe that gets compliments at family functions, start with Flora. If you want something that announces itself, Bloom. If you're shopping for evening and winter, Oud. If you like fragrance as a hobby rather than a utility, Rush.

Honestly though — buy three samples. The whole point of ₹100–₹160 for 10g is that you don't have to guess. Between the four of them you're spending about ₹510 to test the entire house properly, which is less than a single duty-free miniature. Our sampler sets work the same way if you'd rather cast a wider net across houses.

How to make these last even longer

Three things that make a measurable difference, in order of how much they matter:

Apply to moisturised skin. Dry skin holds oil badly. A plain unscented lotion first, then the oil on top, and you'll add two to three hours easily.

Use pulse points, not clothes. Oils can stain light fabric and silk in particular. Wrists, inner elbows, behind the ears, base of the throat.

Let it settle for ten minutes before you judge it. Oils don't have a spray's dramatic opening — the first two minutes smell like almost nothing, and then it arrives. A lot of people write off an oil in the first thirty seconds and miss the whole thing.

If you want to go deeper on wear time, we've written about how long perfume oils actually last on skin in more detail.

Where these sit against the rest of the range

The Gucci family is our most "designer" cluster — polished, crowd-pleasing, easy to wear to work. If you want something further from the mainstream, the niche-inspired oils are stranger and more interesting. If you want the classic masculine designer territory, the Armani-style oils are the better starting point. Everything lives together in the full inspired oils collection.

A note on names: every oil described here is an original Unravel Perfumery blend. We do not sell Gucci fragrances and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Guccio Gucci S.p.A. Names like Flora, Bloom, Rush and Gucci Oud are referenced only to describe the style and character of scent our own oils evoke.
