Methyl ionone gamma is the powdery violet-orris note behind 'lipstick' and cosmetic-style florals. It is softer and more woody-orris than plain ionones, and gives a formula a velvety, make-up-bag powderiness.

Powdery violet and orris with a woody, slightly fruity-floral softness. Long-lasting in the heart and dry-down.
How perfumers use it
Use it in violet, iris, powdery floral and chypre accords, and to add velvet to rose and woody blends. It pairs beautifully with ionones, musks and Iso E Super. It is IFRA restricted and an EU-labelled allergen, so check your category limit.
