Cashmeran is IFF's name for DPMI, a woody-musky material invented to evoke the soft warmth of cashmere. It sits between woods and musks, with spice, pine and a faint fruity sweetness, and gives florals and ambers a plush, textile-like texture.

What it smells like

Warm, musky wood with a spicy, slightly resinous pine note and a soft ripe-fruit sweetness. Diffusive and long-lasting.

How perfumers use it

Use it to add velvety warmth to florals, ambers and woody accords. It bridges musks and woods beautifully, so it is often used alongside Galaxolide and Iso E Super. It can be solid at room temperature; warm gently to melt before weighing. It is IFRA restricted, so check the limit for your category.

Blends well with: Iso E Super, Galaxolide, Ambermor, Cedramber, Ethyl Vanillin.

IFRA & regulatory
